About Jennifer Gottlieb

As a lifelong resident of Hollywood Florida, Jennifer Leonard Gottlieb has had a distinguished career as a community leader, education advocate and public policy official. She most recently served as an elected member of the Broward County, FL, School Board (BCSB). With over 250,000 students and 250 schools, BCSB is the sixth largest school district in the country. Jennifer was elected county-wide by large margins in both 2006 and 2010. In the 2009-2010 school year, Jennifer was elected to serve as board Chairwoman.

During her tenure, Jennifer was the driving voice to launch Broward County’s first Pre-Kindergarten - 8th grade Public Montessori School, Beachside Montessori Village. Since its opening in 2010, Beachside has maintained the ranking of highest achieving academic school in Broward County, and the third highest ranking in all of Florida. During this time, she was appointed as Chairwoman of the State Instructional Materials Committee, K-12 Reading Adoption. Jennifer was a chief proponent in developing a Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program at all Broward County High Schools making it one of the largest in the Nation. Her public policy accomplishments include championing employee domestic partner benefits and non-discrimination and protection for LGBT students and employees. Jennifer sponsored one of the most stringent and encompassing school anti-bullying policies in Florida, which was ultimately replicated by the entire state.

A long and very productive career in education began as a classroom teacher. Jennifer Gottlieb also served as an advocate for teachers as the Government Relations Manager for the Broward County Teachers Union.

As a community leader she has had a long successful history of supporting and engaging in local institutions and agencies. The Broward Sheriff’s Office appointed Jennifer to its Gang Reduction Task Force. She served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce; she served on Broward County Charter Review Commission, and was appointed to the State Finance Committee of the Florida School Board Association. She has been honored by multiple civic organizations for her tireless work to improve the lives of children throughout Broward County and the state of Florida.

A 1994 graduate of Nova Southeastern with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education, Jennifer's greatest accomplishment is being the mother of two teenage boys who are her great pride and joy in life.
