of East St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, over the course of his career as
an attorney and a judge. After practicing law for several years, he was
elected Judge of the City Court of Slidell.
Under the leadership of Judge Jim Lamz, the City Court of Slidell has become more efficient and responsive to community needs. He implemented various measures to improve the physical security of the court, as well as to maintain responsible budget practices even as the number of cases increased in the years following Hurricane Katrina.
James Lamz has worked throughout his career to help youth in his community. He has publicly advocated for the work done by Court Appointed Child Advocates (CASA) in providing guidance in legal cases involving children who have suffered abuse and neglect.
In addition, after public funding for GED preparatory classes was eliminated, Judge Jim Lamz started his own free GED preparatory classes for Juvenile Drug Court participants. Judge Lamz continues to help young offenders turn away from crime and become productive members of society.
