About Maya Adam
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, Maya Adam MD attended medical school at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Over the course of her undergraduate career, Maya Adam MD was awarded the President’s Academic Excellence Award and the Dean’s Award for Academic Accomplishment.
Today, Dr. Adam teaches childhood nutrition and health as a lecturer in Stanford University’s Human Biology Program. She is also launching a massive open online course (MOOC) called Child Nutrition and Cooking, which will be available to tens of thousands of students throughout the world. To fund this innovative initiative, she received a 2012 grant from Stanford’s Vice Provost for Online Learning.
Prior to her medical training and her subsequent teaching position at Stanford University, Maya Adam MD was a professional ballet dancer, performing as a soloist with the State Theater of Saxony in Dresden, Germany, for nearly 10 years. When she is not working, she enjoys cooking, writing, and spending time with her children.
