2013 Kickoff Events
StartUp Lakewood seeks to make Lakewood more appealing to
small businesses by connecting entrepreneurs to the people, skills, and tools
needed to be successful. In 2013 StartUp Lakewood will be strengthening our
efforts by doubling the number of guest presenters in the StartUp U speaker
series. Read on for details on our upcoming events...
January 29th – University of Akron’s Small Entrepreneur
an Economic Development (SEED) Legal Clinic will be present. This group of
dedicated law students provides a range of low-cost legal services to new and
emerging businesses under the supervision of a licensed attorney.
February 26th – Small business consultant Tim Robinson will pose the question "What happens to your business when something happens to you?" as he leads a discussion on business continuation planning.
March 26th – Lakewood’s Entrepreneur in Residence Mike Belsito will facilitate the first ideation session of the year. Ideation sessions provide those in the local entrepreneur community the opportunity to network, brainstorm, and learn from one another.
April 23rd – A panel of finance professionals will discuss financing options for entrepreneurs and existing businesses. We will cover traditional bank financing, venture capital funding, crowdfunding, private equity financing, and yes, even accepting funds from family and friends.
