Clostridium Perfringens is one of the most common causes of food poisoning in the Unites States. According to some estimates this type of bacteria causes nearly a million illnesses each year. If food is not taken prompt care of the spores will grow & produce new cells. They can grow fast in room temperature, but not in refrigerators or freezer temp. The infection often occur when you prepare in a large quantity and then kept warm for a long time before serving. These outbreaks of infections are usually happening in hospitals, school cafeteria, prisons, nursing homes, events with catered food.

Some symptoms of this infection is diarrhea and abdominal cramps (not fever or vomiting). Duration of illness 24 hours or less, in severe cases may last up to 1-2 weeks. Adults and children and even infants are at risk for this illness. Drink plenty of fluids and get rest. If you cannot drink enough fluids to prevent hydration go to a doctor.
