Physical Development

Length and weight from newborn to 1:  Length newborn;46.3-53.4 12 months;71.3-80.2

Weight: newborn;2.5-4.3  12 months;7.8-11.8

Milestons:  1 to 3 months;

  • Lifts and turns head from side to side when lying on stomach
  • Grasps rattle when placed in hand
  • Smiles when smiled at
  • Follows moving object or person with eyes
  • Turns head toward bright colors and lights and toward the sound of a human voice
  • Makes cooing and gurgling sounds
  • Reacts to peek-a-boo games

Six Months:

  • Holds head steady when sitting (with some help)
  • Reaches for and grasps objects
  • Helps hold bottle during feeding
  • Explores by mouthing and banging objects
  • Pulls up to sitting position if hands are grasped
  • Opens mouth for spoon
  • Babbles and makes sing-song sounds
  • Knows familiar faces

7 to 12 months

  • Drinks from cup with help
  • Grasps small objects with thumb and forefinger
  • Puts small blocks in and out of a container
  • Sits unsupported
  • Crawls on hands and knees
  • Pulls self up to stand
  • Takes steps while holding on to furniture
  • Stands alone momentarily
  • Walks with one hand held
  • Moves body to music
  • Begins to use objects, like a comb, correctly
  • Babbles, but with inflection, which sounds like talking
  • Says first word
  • Responds to another¬ís distress by showing distress/crying
  • Understands simple commands

- you care for your infant by giving them the love,affection, and attention they need because if you don`t there going to miss really important milestones like learning or just speaking proper english

Emotional and social both focus on self concept, independence, and friendship.

SOCIAL

Milestones

1-3 Between 1-3 months of age, babies begin the transformation from being a totally dependent newborn to becoming an active and responsive infant.

4-7 babies learn to coordinate their new perceptive abilities (including vision, touch, and hearing) and motor skills such as grasping, rolling over, sitting up, and may be even crawling

8-12 By age 8 months, most babies can sit up without support. They also figure out how to roll down to their stomachs and return to a sitting position again

If a certain milestone in the child`s life is missing like a really important one like language the child will never be able to fully understand the common language that we speak thats why its very important to make sure to stimulate brain development
