Costa Rica is a little bit smaller than West Virginia in the U.S.

There's around 4.872 million people who live in Costa Rica.

The biggest city in Costa Rica is San José, the most important cities in Costa Rica are San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Escazu, Puntarenas, and Limon.

Costa Rica is mostly made up of mountains, rivers, lots of beaches, and has several volcanoes. Their most active one is Arenal and is in the Tilaran Mountains and in some sort of way erupts almost everyday.

One popular attraction in Costa Rica is the Barra Honda National Park. In the park it has some of the best cave systems in the world. Unlike the rest of northern Costa Rica the rock under and around Barra Honda is limestone. The mountains around the park were cut by water to form a system of more than 40 limestone caverns. Surrounding the caves there's a very rare tropical dry forest. In the forest there are several hiking trails for visitors to hike through.

In nearly every meal rice and beans are included even breakfast. Pork and beef are the most commonly eaten meats, but chicken and fish are also eaten, but it's more common to eat chicken and fish by the Caribbean coast. Potatoes are also included in lots of their meals. Some of the most typical eaten foods in Costa Rica are Casado, Ceviche, Gallo Pinto, and Olla de Carne. You can find these foods in pretty much any Costa Rican restaurant.

The best time to travel to Costa Rica is between mid-December and April.

The vaccinations you have to have before going to Costa Rica are Hepatitis A and B, Rabies, Yellow Fever, and Typhoid.

To travel to Costa Rica you have to have an updated passport and a return ticket to leave Costa Rica.

In Costa Rica you can stay in hotels, vacation rental houses, eco-hotels, or resorts.

In Costa Rica their government is democratic republic.

In the Western Hemisphere Costa Rica is the only country that doesn't have an army or military of any kind.

The official language of Costa Rica is spanish, but lots of people in resorts and hotels speak english too.

It would be okay for Americans to travel to Costa Rica, because the U.S. and Costa Rica have always been friendly towards each other.

Compared to the other countries in South America Costa Rica is one of the safest places to go.

In Costa Rica you can go around to different places by bus, taxi, or car rentals. If you travel by bus you will have to pay a small bus fee.

Some ethnic groups that are known to live in Costa Rica are Russians, Danes, Belgians, Portuguese, Georgians, Armenians, Croats, Hungarians, and Turks.
