Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome. Typically,a baby is born with 46 chromosome. Babies with down syndrome have an extra copy of one of these chromosomes, chromosomes 21. In 1866,Doctor John Langdon Down discovered Down syndrome. Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition. One in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Down Syndrome. Their are also more than 400,000 people with down syndrome living in the United States. Down Syndrome occurs in people of all races. The symptoms are large tongues, mouth breathing, difficult time understanding, deafness, lazy eye,and many more. I choose this disease because I see people walking around looking different and I wanted to know more why their like that. While doing this project I learned a lot of this generic disorder. It helped me understand why they look like that.
