Mother to Son
Life goes on
The main claim in the poem is that the mother is explaining to her son about how her life went growing up and he should never give up on life.
-The characters are a mother and a son.
-The conflict is this woman has been through a rough childhood and doesn't want her son to go through what she went through as a child.
-The resolution is when the mother tells her son to never give up for the last time.
-Are there figures of speech being used? "Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair."
-What do those figures of speech mean literally? Yes because a crystal stair means it is not easy.
-A good theme for the text would be "life goes on" because you can not control life, you just have to deal with it.
