Julia Child the French Chef
I picked Julia Chid for myEnighish porject because she was a wonderful chef! She helped people be better cooks with her cookbooks and tv shows. I love watching her tv shows because she believed that there is a chef in everyone.
All about Julia
Julia Carolyn McWilliams was born August 15,1912 in Pasadena, California. Julia was the oldest of three siblings. Growing up, she played tennis, basketball, and golf which she continued playing through college. Julia went to Smith College in Massachusetts. After college, she moved to New York City.
During World War II, Julia was in the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) where she worked for the US government and was sent to Sri Lanka which is north of the Indian Ocean. There she met Paul Child and fell in love. As a couple, people would stare at them because Julia was 6 feet 2 inches tall and Paul was a lot shorter.
After returning to the U.S.A, they got married. Paul was sent to France in 1948 where Julia was introduced to french cuisine. She applied to Le Cordon Bleu cooking school and decided she wanted to be a chef. Soon they moved back to the U.S.A where she published her first cookbook. Her book sold so many copies she was invited to be on the news. After she became pouplar, she made three tv shows. Since she helped people be great cooks made a museum abot her. Sadly she died Auguest 13,2004 two days before her bithday at the age of 91.
How Julia Inspired People
Problem: People did not know how to make great gourmet recipes.
Solution: Julia created 17 cookbooks on how to cook and what great foods to make. She porvided easy steps on how to make delicious meals.
Steps Julia Child took to becaome a chef
1949- she was accepeted to the Le Cordon Bleu cooking school.
1951- Julia finlly graduated after failed her first exam in 1950
1954- Julia stared working on her first cookbook
1961 -published her first cookbook Mastering the Art ofFrench Cooking 1
1963 -created tree tv shows
