Desert Animals

The meerkat or, suricata suicatta, is found in southern Africa, Kalahari and is an average length of 10-14 inches including the tail. Its average weight is 1.5-1.6 lbs. A meerkats diet is is mostly insects but can also feed on small rodents and scorpions. The meerkats can feed on scorpions because the are immune to certain types of strong venom including the scorpions venom. The way that the meerkat can survive the hash climate of the desert, is that they get most of their water from the insects that they eat, and the dark circles around the meerkats eyes act like sunglasses so they can look almost directly at the sun. Also the meerkat does not need much water
