Baghdad

Ms. Peterson September 27, 2013

Baghdad is the capital of Iraq and is located on the west side of the Tigris river. Baghdad was known as the "center of learning" due to it's learning institutions such as the House of Wisdom that translated Greek, Middle Persian, and Syriac languages. Baghdad was built in the cross roads of many trading routes such as the Khurasan Road. Travel was typically done on land.
