Diverse Experience in Psychology
About Alana Barlia
Currently a junior at Boston University, Alana Barlia enhances her academic studies by developing her experience and skills in practical professional settings. Most recently, Ms. Barlia served as a summer intern at Dynamic Kids, a pediatric occupational therapy practice in White Plains, New York. Alana Barlia performed a variety of administrative services, while also observing therapy sessions and becoming familiar with the overall practice.
Alana Barlia has worked with children for a number of years, having held her first paid positions as a counselor-in-training and a lifeguard assistant at Camp Schodack in Nassau, New York. She then went on to lifeguard at the Ardsley Swim and Tennis Club and later to enhance her service skills in the retail and food service industries. Now possessed of a diverse skill set, she continues to work toward her undergraduate degree in psychology.
Alana Barlia balances her academic and work activities with her leadership responsibilities as the service learning chair of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. In this role, she coordinates two annual events aimed at raising money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the Sharsheret Breast Cancer Foundation. Ms. Barlia also recruits and organizes teams of sorority sisters to participate in other on-campus and community-outreach events.
