Antares, Heart of the Scorpion
Antares is a star that is 619.7 light years away from our planet known as Earth. The color of Antares is actually not that raspberry type color in the picture, but a bright reddish color. Believe it or not, but the diameter of Antares is 700 times that of our sun. You would think that something so big would have a pretty massive density when it is only less than one-millionth of our sun. Also as far as stars go, Antares is relatively cool being at about 6,500 F or about 3593 C compared to the sun which is at around 11,000 F or 6093 C, this is why it has its reddish color.
One thing that is pretty cool about this star is that it is a red super-giant nearing the end of its life which is a bit sad, but it will create a supernova once it has ran out of fuel to burn and that can give us information about supernovas and the different things that happen during the occurrence. Some more info about this star is that it is in the Scorpio Constellation and is known as the brightest star there. A name that it has been given is the Alpha Scorpii and Heart of the Scorpion.
