A twist on the classic banana bread
- 1 and 3/4 cup of flour
- 1/3 tsp of baking soda
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup of oil (vegetable or conola)
- 3 tbsp of milk
- 1 cup of applesauce
- 1 tsp of cinnamon + more to taste/as needed
First, preheat oven to 350 F.
Second, mix flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, eggs, oil and milk thoroughly in a mixing bowl.
Once those ingredients have been mixed, then mix in applesauce and cinnamon until smooth. (Honestly, you could probably mix everything together at once, I've just always kept the same steps because that's how the recipe for banana bread used.)
Grease a loaf pan and pour mixture in.
Bake uncovered at 350F for about an hour. Check at 45 min with a toothpick. Stick a toothpick in the thickest part, if there is a little bit of tug and some mixture left clinging on the toothpick, that means its not done yet.
The best thing about using applesauce in this recipe is that you can try all the different kinds of flavored applesauces. My favorite so far is the strawberry applesauce. The redness of the strawberry flavoring somehow migrates to the center of the bread, giving it a pink center (once I make another one with strawberry applesauce, I'll update this Tackk).
