Easy to use, presentation app for the iPad or on the web. Your ideas, images, links, and other information will be organized and presented in an engaged, modern way that will engage the reader and work on any device seamlessly.
Easy enough for JK/SK students to use but made for any age, Adobe Voice helps children to quickly build stories quickly with their voice, background music, pictures, various formats and publish a video that can shared online or to the camera roll.
Shadow Puppet & Shadow Puppet Edu
This app is similar to Adobe Voice and more appropriate if students already have a number of images saved on the camera roll and want to quickly tie them together into a story with narration. It also features a simple draw and text tools, plus zooming. There are 30 built-in idea templates to help you get started. Plus, it saves the video to popular social media platforms or to the camera roll.
Take an ordinary image and add hotspot links to make it interactive. Add words, images, videos or hyperlinks. Works as a web tool or as an app on iOS or Android. (Video below is for web tool but app works in a similar way.)
This is not a free app ($2.99) but it is probably the most versatile app used in classrooms. This app has all the functions of a slide presentation app, interactive whiteboard app, a screen-casting app, and more. It can help students create multimedia presentations, digital stories, videos, animations, 'how tos', explanations of concepts, annotation of resources, PDFs, research documentation, resource curation, and more.
Even though this app supports the creation of genuine EPUB standard eBooks, this app is also just a wonderful creation tool for students to write electronic books on an iPad. The app supports the creation of very simple or very complex books so it can grow with your students' needs and is usable from early primary level. The free version only allows for one book to be created; the paid allows for unlimited books.
The iMovie app now comes pre-installed on all iPads. It is an excellent tool for creating videos from other videos, images, music or assembling clips 'on the fly' ('Movie' mode). It also features a 'Trailer' mode which frees students from editing video clips and lets them add their own content to a template in order to create a Hollywood-style movie trailer. Planning templates are available for students to plan their content in advance of making their trailers.
Puppet Pals HD Director's Pass
This app helps children create digital stories in a fun and engaging way. They can choose built-in characters and settings or make their own (by taking photos 'on the fly' or by importing images from the camera roll). Students animate characters with their fingers and the app records their voices so the story can be told. The app produces a video that can be saved independently of the app.
Uploading pics/vids from iPad to OneDrive or to Google Drive
Many of the apps on this page can produce a video that is saved in the Camera Roll on an iPad. The first video shows PDSB teachers and students how to upload any video (or image) stored in the Camera Roll to their board provided Office 365 OneDrive cloud drive. The second video shows how to upload to Google Drive on the iPad.
