April In-Service Opportunities

1) Digital Storytelling to Motivate Students and Improve Teacher Knowledge of Students

When: Monday, April 20th
Time: 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm
Where: Wilson Elementary, Lab # 3
Credit: 2 hours
Description: Have a great story that you would like to tell? Would you love to learn how to create a nifty slide show or video using your iPad, your laptop, or desktop computer? In this interactive session participants will use a variety of media tools for both PC and iPad to create a digital story. Increase student motivation and improve knowledge of students by learning more about them when they write, storyboard, record, and share their authentic digital story.


2) Introduction to QR Codes to Increase Student Motivation (Part 1)

When: April 23rd
Time: 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm
Where: John Colemon Elementary, Lab # 1
Credit: 1 hour
Description: If you are curious about what these are or how they can be used to peek student interest, come to this session. Participants will learn how to use QR Codes for quick access to online resources, to organize their content, and develop inquiry based learning activities in a fast and easy way. QR codes can be read from a computer with a web camera or any mobile devices
