Generating questions before, during, and after reading helps lead to a deeper understanding of the text as well as clear up confusion.

How to inspire questioning...

- Create a classroom poster that contains the question words: who, what, where, when, how, why.

- Have students make "question sticks" that they can keep in their school materials that lists the question words

- Have students create bookmarks that include the question words that they can keep next to them while they are reading
