Any government in which there is absolute authority by the state or a powerful governing branch.


  • Oligarchy-a group of people having absolute power over a government.
  • Dictatorship-one person having absolute authority over the citizens in a government (Nazi-Germany or Singapore (a benevolent dictatorship)).


  • Decisions can be made faster, because there are no arguments, all the decisions are made by the leader(s).
  • Less crime rates, because of the amount of control that the state has on the people.


  • Lack of power for the citizens in the government. This can lead to conflict and war.
  • The powerful state can abuse their power, and do inhumane acts, like with the Holocaust.
