Athletes for Hope
Connecting Athletes with Charities Since 2007
About Athletes for Hope
Connecting hundreds of athletes and charities each year, Athletes for Hope (AFH) is a non-profit organization that inspires and educates athletes to engage in meaningful philanthropic work using their time and status to make a difference. Athletes for Hope’s flagship Causeway program helps many types of athletes, from youth to college to professional and Olympic, to discover and engage with causes that are meaningful to them.
AFH was founded in 2007 by a group of more than ten athletes, including Muhammad Ali, Mia Hamm, Tony Hawk, and Andre Agassi, among others. Over the past several years, this group has grown to include more than 2,000 athletes who hail from a wide range of sports.
Today, the organization is active through Causeway's empowering workshops, as well as through advocacy and charitable service events centered on occasions such as the September 11th National Day of Service, the winter holidays, and Earth Day, among others. Athletes for Hope hosted the Inaugural Sport & Social Impact Leadership Summit in 2011, in partnership with Wharton Sports Business Initiative (WSBI). Through its varied slate of programs, AFH continues to distinguish itself as a passionate promoter of philanthropy and leadership in the sports world.
