The Founder and Chairman of Chick-fil-A Emeritus A. Truett Cathy. He opened "Dwarf Grill" in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville in 1946. He later created the original chicken sandwich in 1964. In 1967, the first Chick-fil-A in-mall restaurant opened in Atlanta Greenbriar Mall featuring the new Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. In 1982, the Chick-fil-A Nuggets were introduced. The first full-service Chick-fil-A Dwarf House was opened in Georgia, and shortly after introduced Chick-fil-A Waffle Fries. They also later introduced the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich as their first breakfast item.
In 1993, the 500th Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened. Chick-fil-A began campaigning with the "Eat Mor Chikin" cow. As the business expanded, they introduced Chick-N-Strips, Fruit Cups, and many new breakfast options. As the 1000th restaurant opened and Chick-fil-A surpassed one billion dollars in system-wide sales, they realized their success was due to many hard workers and some great new food entrees.
