Romeo and Juliet & The Little Mermaid

The real little mermaid is similar to Romeo and Juliet because in both stories the two lovers cannot be together because their families hate each other.

For example:

  • Romeo and Juliet are from to rival families and hate each other while Ariel is a mermaid  and Eric is a human and mermaids don't like humans because they may hurt them.
  • Ariels love for Eric cannot be broken even though the ocean is their barrier.
  • In both romeo and Juliet & the little mermaid have potions or tricks to get the two lovers together forever.
  • In the end in both stories there is peace between the two rivals. The Montague and Capulet's end their rivalry and the mermaids and humans turn friends.
  • Romeo and Juliet tried everything they could to be together but did not succeed, and the little mermaid tried to be with Eric but failed and turned to sea foam.
