Through my research about Michal Chelbin, I learned that she produced several different series of works such as; Strangely Familiar and The Black Eye. I find it interesting how she chooses to use a background that doesn't fit her subjects in some of her photographs. For example, she has a floral pattern behind a man in a juvenile detention outfit. In another photograph, she has dirty working men, that appear translucent, but in the center there is a little girl wearing a bright pink princess costume. The two are complete opposites, yet they contrast well together to create an interesting composition.
