System of Writing
The first ever form of writing was developed by the Sumerians. They made this system of writing because Mesopotamia was starting to populate. With Cuneiform it helped them with business transactions, ownership rights, and government records. The Sumerians wrote on clay tablets instead of paper. When they were done writing on the clay tablets they put them out in the sun to harden, so they could keep records and other important stuff.
The first great king of Babylon was King Hammurabi. He conquered all of Mesopotamia and established the first Babylon Empire.Hammurabi's code was written down on a clay tablet and etched in stone. There were 282 different laws on Hammurabi's code.
The Ancient Sumerians worshipped many different gods and goddesses. They thought that the gods influenced much of what happened to them in their lives. Each city had its own god.At the center of the city was a large temple or ziggurat built to that god.
