I took a picture of Vanessa in H block holding a water bottle, I decided to do it against the painting in H block because it looked pretty.

she has a water bottle in her hand. 0

I got vanessa to be my modle for this photo, i wanted more focus on the bottle she was holding and decided that she should be looking down while holding the bottle in her hand.

Identity

Josiah Mcelheny

born in 1966 Boston U.S.

he lives and works in Brooklyn new York.

Josiah McElheny combines his skills as an expert glassblower, he   for many years under the tutelage of European masters, with a playful approach to both the history of his medium and the history of ideas. His objects and installations, often based around historical events, seek to fuse materiality and thought in the experience of looking.

His bought something new to the artistic world which shows that he himself is really focused on having a very dissimilar identity to any other artist, and his skills as a glassblower are something that will always make his work stand out and that's something that you noticed when you look at his work. Its fresh modern all those great things yet he still manages to bring his own characteristics into that.

His work

McElheny has been exploring the body for more than 20 years, examining how fashion and modernism have interchanged and influenced it. and was able to do that for this show, entitled Interactions of the Abstract Body, he also turned his skills for abstraction into glassblown sculptures. these three are my favourites simply because of the way he was able to interpret the human body in such a way that only he saw it. I also love the glass blown sculptures because of how he was able to interpret something like the human body using his thoughts and ideas and then be able to build them using one of his skills which is glassblowing.

his work is definitely influenced a lot by modernism and also his ability to blowglass.one of the reasons I love his work is  how different his work is and how modern it is. I also love how his able to create something that looks so simple yet have so much reason and logic behind it. I chose these three pictures because I felt they just sum up what his about and they are the perfect example of what his capable of and what it is that his into and enjoys. the main art element that he uses a lot definately has to be object and shape a lot of his work is based upon that.
