8 MEH.2.2 Title: Decision-Making Model

Scenario 1: Football season starts this week and Steve is excited about his school's first game. He has already purchased his ticket and has made plans to meet his friend there. His school team is playing their long-time rival and it should be the best game of the season. On the night before the game, Steve's parents receives a phone call from friends visiting in a city 30n miles away. Steve's parents have not seen these friends in years because they live in a distant state. Friday night is the only time Steve's parents can drive to see their friends. Steve's parents have asked him to stay home from the game to baby-sit his six-year-old brother. They realize Steve has made plans to go to the game but feel that he will have an opportunity to attend many more games this year. Steve's parents will let him make the final decision. What should he do?

Step 1: State the situation

Steve wont's to go to the biggest game of the season, but his parents are going out that night and need him to baby-sit. But he really wont's to go to the game.

Step 2: list the Options

He can go to the game and suffer the consequences.  He can baby-sit and miss the game but he might get paid or something els to be rewarded for his actions.

Step 3: Weigh the possible outcomes

If he goes and they win he could end up at a party that is full of bad things like drugs and alcohol. If he stays home he might end up getting paid and maybe even a trip of some sort for showing that he is responsible.

Step 4: Consider Values

What is more important family or a gam that could end up putting you in a bad place.

Step 5: Make a decision and act it

Steve should stay home and watch his brother because he is in a controlled situation where if something were to go rong he could handel it and make sure the outcome is to his advantage.

Step 6: Evaluate the Decision

I think it is a good decision because if you are not careful you can make a rong move and mess up your life so this is a good situation.

Scenario 4: You are an eighth grade student. Since the seventh grade you have been on the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad. You recently tried out for the Varsity team next year. You were notified that you made the team. The cheerleading sponsor informs you that you can no longer be in band if you are cheering on the Varsity football nights, since fifth grade and have really enjoyed being in the band and going on band trips. Next year the band is going to Disney World. What do you do?

Step 1: Stat the situation

You have been on the cheerleading since seventh grade and you recently tried out for the Junior Varsity Squad and made it. But you have been doing bad since fifth grade and you really enjoy it but if you are on the squad you cant be in the band.

Step 2: list the options

You can join the squad and give up something you love that can help you in the future. You can stay in band and give up The Junior Varsity Squad that you have work so hard to be on. Or you can have the best of both worlds and stay on the regular cheerleading squad so that you can cheer and be in band.

Step 3: Weigh the possible outcomes

If you choses JV cheerleading you don't get to go with the band you love to Disney World. But if you chose the regular cheerleading squad you can still cheer and go to Disney world with the bad you love. Lastly band helps you improve you math skills and look good on collage applications.

Step 4: Consider Values

The decision all comes down to you values. What do you value more you commitment to your band that you have ben with since fifth grade or the JV cheerleading squad that you just tried out for. I would go with the band because it is something you love doing, you get to go to Disney world, and you can still cheer on the other squad.

Step 5: Make a decision

The decision I would choose is to stay in band and do the other cheer leading squad so that I do not have it give up anything.

Step 6: Evaluate the Decision

The decision I choose is a good one because it lets you have the ability to cheer and play the instrument that you worked do hard to learn in the first place.
