Romeo + Juliet in 90 Seconds

A Video Project on the Drama

For this project, you will work in groups of 2-3 to accurately tell the story of Romeo and Juliet in a video that is approximately 90 seconds.

Include key quotes from the play that represent the main events in the drama. These quotes should be incorporated in a meaningful way within the presentation.

Textual evidence must also represent the literary elements that we have studied throughout this unit, including:

  1. Soliloquy
  2. Monologue
  3. Aside
  4. Foil
  5. Pun
  6. Paradox
  7. Foreshadowing
  8. Dramatic Irony

Include all characters from the play to show their impact on the plot.

Analyze at least one major theme of the play and demonstrate this theme throughout your video.

Create using:

  • iMovie
  • Tellagami (cell phones only)

Due December 19th.

We will view presentations and enjoy some holiday treats!

Extra Credit:

On 12/19, bring a snack to share with the class that is in some way related to one of the characters from Romeo and Juliet. Earn extra credit by writing a short explanatory paragraph about how the food reminds you of a character in the play.

Cucumber dip reminds me of Benvolio, who remains calm and cool while everyone else around him is trying to start a fight. The dip is made with cucumbers, which are used in the idiom “cool as a cucumber”. This is how Benvolio acts since he is the voice of reason amid all the other characters who want to fight each other.

You must turn in your paragraph on 12/19 in order to get +5 points extra credit!
