Boston College ESF Project - Skills Support for the Workforce E Learning Project

To develop and create a modular bitesize Catering programme to support local hospitality businesses in up-skilling staff. The free online module would be fully accessible online via desktop and mobile devices with a range of self and peer assessments on practical sessions.

How was it met?

The content was informed by consultation with our current business partnerships and Group Catering department to provide both high quality, current and bespoke training for catering workforces.

A joint effort between curriculum teams, Head of E-Learning and existing initiatives in the organisation helped produce content which is engaging, effective and indicative of the high quality experience of the Groups current Catering provision.

A range of high quality tools, resources, video guides and assessment methods were used to cater for a range of ages, abilities and situations. Various technologies were used to create and curate online content including:

  • Articulate Storyline Authoring Software
  • iMovie Video Editing
  • Moodle VLE Tools
  • Apple iPad and Apps
  • Online tools including Blendspace and Thinglink
