Email Etiquette

Mario Lopez

* Do not make an e-mail longer than it needs to be. Remember that reading an e-mail is harder than reading printed communication and a long e-mail can be very discouraging to read.

*This is not only important because improper spelling, grammar and punctuation give a bad impression of your company, it is also important for conveying the message properly.

* Do not use text-speak. if you text-speak, your email will go directly to my trash bin, it will not pass go, and i will definitely not respond.

* If you’re writing a teacher about a project or assignment, make sure you give some background information.

*Mind your manners. Make sure you read your email out loud to yourself before you send it.

*We interact more and more with the written word all the time.

* With large, impersonal lectures it becomes harder to discuss questions or problems with teacher.
