"Mother to Son" by Langston Hughes
"Well, son, I’ll tell you life for me ain’t been no crystal stair." In the poem "Mother to Son" by Langston Hughes, paints a picture of struggle but yet hopefulness. In the poem the narrator has an optimistic tone she say that even though her life hasn't been perfect each day she keep pressing on so that one day she can reach that crystal stair which symbolizes the perfect life. In the poem the narrator says that "sometimes she had to go in the dark where there hadn't been any light" which symbolizes that even through to darkest points in her life she kept going. The narrator is determined to one day reach the better life and she is encouraging her son to keep going even though life can get harder you have to keep going because, if you stop believing you will never reach the better life. The theme of the poem is to never give up.
