Technologies in the Film

While maybe quite at the point the movie has demonstrated with its weather service that predicts and controls the weather down to the minute, research is being done to manipulate and force certain weather patterns. In Abu Dhabi’s Al Ain region, research was being done to develop technologies to induce rain to happen, since rain is rarer in the desert. Scientists were able to make an ionizer that would produce charged particles into the air, rising with the hot air and attracting dust [1]. Moisture condenses around the particles and when enough is there, it is released as rain. They were able to make it rain 50 times that year. This suggests that it might soon be possible to control certain elements of the weather.
