Sojourner Truth was born as a slave, after she was freed on July 4, 1827 she fought endlessly to help end slavery. She often sang powerful songs and gave inspirational speeches in the Northeast and Midwest, often along with Frederick Douglas. Additionally, she was the first black woman to win a court case against a white man, she won $125 from the law suit. Lastly, she also changed the way people looked at African american's and women's rights.
