Benevis Implements Talari Solution to Improve Kool Smiles Networks
A leading provider of children’s dental services, Kool Smiles focuses its efforts on underserved communities where access to quality dental care is scarce. These rural and urban communities often present unique challenges to service delivery, as dental offices in these areas must frequently navigate substandard IT network performance and frequent outages.
Benevis, which provides supportive, nonclinical business services to dental practices across the United States, has helped Kool Smiles improve its network performance at its Marietta, Georgia, headquarters and 29 other offices. Benevis recently bolstered its IT support with the implementation of a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution created by Talari Networks. Deployed at all affiliated Kool Smiles locations, the solution has greatly increased efficiency for the dental office networks, lowering operational costs while creating a more reliable network for dentists and their staff.
All Kool Smiles offices currently benefiting from Benevis’ services have transitioned from multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) to the SD-WAN solution. Since the switch, Talari’s quality of service (QoS) tools have allowed network users to more accurately monitor system speed and quality. Additionally, the firm’s QoS capabilities have improved the networks’ ability to handle complex traffic, simplifying processes such as large image transfers and Citrix transactions.
In addition to faster application response times and fewer system-wide disruptions, the technology has enabled Kool Smiles to improve its network performance across the board. While only 53.1 percent of the practice’s offices met their uptime target of 99.9 percent in 2012, this number has risen to 96.2 percent since the Talari deployment. Moreover, the solution has resulted in an overall network spend reduction of 39 percent at selected Kool Smiles offices.
