James Meredith

James Meredith was born on June 25,1933 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He is best known for being a civil rights activist. He is a very important man. He is defined in 3 traits; smart, confident, and fearless.

James Meredith has a lot of accomplishments in his life.  He is very smart. James Meredith was the first  African American to attend University of Mississippi in 1962. He received a master's degree in economics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He also received a law degree from Columbia University. He is a confident and brave man. He ran for the Congress as a Republican nominee. James is also very fearless. He conceived and led the 1966 "Meredith Mississippi March against Fear." James vowed that he would dedicate is life ensuring equal treatment for African Americans. He also stated that his intent was not to integrate a school but to dismantle the system of white supremacy in Mississippi. Meredith served as a domestic adviser to U.S. Senator Jesse Helms and served in the American Air Force.
