About Bill Upton
Bill Upton studied business administration at Auburn University. He excelled in the classroom, achieving membership in such prestigious organizations as the business honor society Delta Sigma Pi. He was also a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity. Bill Upton graduated in 1976 with his bachelor of science degree.
In 1977, Bill Upton founded Vulcan Steel Products, where he continues to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer. He guides the company's strategy and implements the policies that keep it operating at maximum efficiency. Based in Alabama, Vulcan is renowned as the only cold finished mill in the United States able to produce cold finished rounds as small as .125" in diameter and as large as 6.00" in diameter in the same facility. The plant, which exceeds 400,000 square feet, supports fastener distributors and steel service centers nationwide with high quality products at competitive prices.
Bill Upton has earned several awards and recognitions over his career. In 2011, he received the AWPA Max Moore Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys various hobbies, a favorite of which is flying. Since earning his pilot certification, he has served as an instructor and has flown over 5,000 hours.
