The Muslim Empire grew from the spread of military conquest, which took about 100 years to expand most of their empire. They were great fighters, and if they had died while in battle they believed they would go directlt to heaven(Jihad) and also through trade!
The battle of tours(732a.d) took place in souther france. the french christians, who were under Charles Martel, had defeated the muslims and stopped them from advancing into Europe.
The Golden age in the Muslim Empire was from about 700-900a.d and it was time of great learning and culturual diffusion.
The Muslims spread Gupta's math ideas and they created algebra and trigonometry. They created hospitals, wrote medical textbooks, and also required doctors to pass exams in order for them to practice medicine. The Muslims architecture was influenced by Byzantine and Indian styles. They learned from Greek ideas, studied stars, and created astronomical tables. Their Islamic Law was based on Islamic religious laws in the Qur'an. It also became the basis for political laws in the empire. The Muslims used money and allowed credit(money borrowing).
The Muslims preserved the Roman and Greek ideas they hadgotten rom their contacts with the Byzantine Empire. They also improved them by translating Roman writings.
The Muslim empire had became the most influential empire on European culture because there geographical nearness to Europe, and they shared the ideas they had gotten from other cultures. They also had great traders with Europe and The Crusades.
