Rocks And Roles :D
The 3 types of rocks:
Sedimentary- types of rock that are formed by the deposition of material at the Earth's surface and within bodies of water.
Example- Coal is an organic sedimentary rock that forms mainly from plant debris. The plant debris usually accumulates in a swamp environment. Coal is combustible and is often mined for use as a fuel. The specimen shown above is about two inches (five centimeters) across.
Metamorphic- Metamorphic rocks arise from the transformation of existing rock types, in a process called metamorphism, which means "change in form".
Example- Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock that is produced from the metamorphism of limestone. It is composed primarily of calcium carbonate. The specimen shown above is about two inches (five centimeters) across.
Igneous- Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava.
Example- Basalt is a fine-grained, dark-colored extrusive igneous rock composed mainly of plagioclase and pyroxene. The specimen shown is about two inches (five centimeters) across.
Stratification is the relative social position of persons in a given social group, category, geographical region or other social unit. In modern Western societies, stratification is often broadly divided into three main divisions of social class: upper class, middle class, and lower class.
The age of rocks can be defined by the number of thickness is the more lines there are in the rock that means the rock is older. The fossils inside will be older the deeper they are in the lines of the rock.
I think the reason the new sedimentary rock grows over the old is because when all the weathering is done occurring the new rock is fresh on top because the eroding is done the new rock that has been formed to the old has more layers now.
They can create or add on to land. Specifically coral reefs are created by the living organism "coral". Over thousands to millions of years, they form massive structures of limestone that after the shoreline of continents.
