Job description

A florists job is too create and design arrangements of flowers in wreaths, bouquets, vases, and center pieces.  Occasionally, the will design rooms or outdoor areas and fill them with flowers.

Job salaries

Central Texas area

Annual salaries and hourly salaries can greatly range.

Anual salaries:  

90th Percentile- $29,170

50th Percentile- $20,960

10 Percentile- $16,250

Hourly salaries:

90th Percentile- $14.03

50th Percentile- $10.08

10th Percentile- $7.81

Education needed

Hugh school diploma- Prior education is not required.

Skills

Should be able to able to identify different types of flowers and know general information about the flowers, how to use tools to arrange flowers, communicate with customers well, and money management.

Tools

Some commonly used tools used by florists are:

* adhesives

* give baskets

*food

*scissors

*balloons

*ribbons

*floral knives, floral tape, floral wire

*flowers

Hours

Normal hours are from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Sometims will change due to a large event.
