Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
A diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro teaches at the University of Hawaii as a tenured associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health. She also serves the department as the director of the Division of Family Planning and the program director of the Family Planning Fellowship. Since joining the University of Hawaii faculty, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro has received several accolades, including the 2011 Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health Medical Student Teaching Award and the 2014 Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Excellence in Teaching Award.
As a clinical obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro works as a physician for Planned Parenthood of Hawaii and acts as the medical director of family planning for the Hawaii State Department of Health. Dr. Kaneshiro belongs to the Society of Family Planning and serves on the national Clinical Updates Committee and the Committee on Adolescent Health Care for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. An active researcher in her field, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro has contributed to numerous articles published in such peer-reviewed journals as the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, Current Obstetrics and Gynecology Reports, and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
At the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine, Dr. Kaneshiro earned an MD and completed an obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency. She served a family-planning fellowship and received a master in public health, epidemiology, and biostatistics from Oregon Health & Science University.
