Types of Bonding
There are many different types of bonding that happens between elements.
Ionic bonding is the complete transfer of valence electrons between atoms. It is a type of chemical bond that generates oppositely charged ions. In ionic bonds, the metal loses electrons to become a positively charged cation.
A covalent bind is a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms. The stable balance of attractive and repulsive forces between atoms when they share electrons.
Metallic bonding is the electromagnetic interaction between relocalized electrons, called conduction electrons, gathered in an electron sea and metallic nuclei with metals.
