The Aztec Civilization
The Aztec arrived in the valley of Mexico and people had driven them into a snake infested region and they survived. They said that god had told them that when they saw an eagle perched on a cactus growing out of a rock, their journey would end and on one island they had saw what they were looking for and it was there were they built Tenochtitlan. Over the next 100 year the Aztec had constructed temples, houses, and other public buildings. By 1500 about four million Aztec lived in the Valley of Mexico and the surrounding valleys of central Mexico. The Aztec religion was based on a belief in an unending struggle between the forces of good and evil throughout the universe.
