Diabetes is a disease in which the body has a shortage of insulin a decreased ability to use insulin, or both. When diabetes is not controlled, glucose and fats remain in the blood and over time it could damage your organs.Type 1 diabetes is a disease where the pancreas produces very little insulin or no insulin at all. People who get Type 1 diabetes are usually under the age of 20. Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90%–95% of diabetes cases and is usually associated with older age. Type 2 Diabetes can be prevented through healthy food choices, physical activity, and weight loss. It can be controlled with the same activities but insulin or medication may be necessary. There is more than 1 type of diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a form of glucose that is diagnosed during pregnancy. Diabetes also causes stress in our cells.
