Entrepreneur in the Nonprofit Sector

In 2011, Brian Mullaney cofounded WonderWorks as a charitable organization that provides free surgeries for poor children and adults in more than 70 of the world's poorest countries. His organization empowers local physicians and hospitals to eliminate the need for volunteer medical missions, thereby facilitating a much more cost-effective process for high-quality healthcare. To date, WonderWork has helped provide more than 100,000 free surgeries for children suffering with severe burns, blindness, and clubfoot.

Mr. Mullaney entered the nonprofit sector by cofounding Smile Train, where he served as president for more than 10 years. During that time, he and his team provided more than 700,000 surgeries and raised more than $800 million dollars.

Brian Mullaney completed a bachelor’s degree in economics at Harvard University. After graduation, he helped establish Schell/Mullaney, a New York-based marketing firm that helped companies and publishers, including The Wall Street Journal, convert their outreach strategy and product placement to digital media.
