Week/Album 4

I have a very clear memory of the first time I heard "Today" My buddy Joe called me up and said "Dude, you have to hear this..." His cousin Mike had made him a new mixtape. So off on my bike I went the 5 miles to get there. Ditch my bike in the front yard. Come in. Round the corner. "Listen to this" Press play. Opening riff...(heaven) we were mesmerized by the sound, we stood there staring at the tape deck as if we couldn't believe what was coming out of it. It was magical. It ended. "Wow...rewind it" I said. And we listened again. This was also the very first CD I owned my parents had got it for me for Easter. For whatever reason for years I only listened to the first half of the album to "Disarm" then would pop something else in. It's probably because I was too young and full of angst to appreciate slow and quite (and on this album the quiet is quiet, quite possibly the only album I have that has dynamics) to be bothered listening to such a track. But the highlight from this album is the very next song after "disarm" that I had been dodging for years "Soma" here's a live version from 94'

Sonically this album is perfect the crystal clear clean with dirty raw crunchy distortion is blissful. I could go on but I won't!
