Old Spice: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like

Old Spice had been struggling tremendously leading up to this point. They had to do something different to get rid of old inventory. It was launched to revamp the marketing of these products and be able to start selling more once again.

Their new campaign led to much higher customer cooperation with their media, Twitter followers went up 2700% and Facebook fan interaction went up 800%.

The campaign itself had been described as "stupid-simple", with this photo he says "I'm on a horse" and this certainly summarized the idea.

The campaign connected extremely well with the audience they had intended to attract. It worked so well that they even made 186 video responses to fans and celebrity followers who commented on the campaign. this had caused Old Spice to become to become the  number 1 all time most viewed branded channel on youtube.

They made this campaign without thinking what the reaction would be. They put a shirtless man in a bathroom without caring about reaction.

With business slowing Old Spice needed to make a change with their campaign. They attempted to attract those in relationships buying body wash for their male significant other. They  did this by advertising during shows that couples watched together. They used shows like, American Idol, Lost, and the winter Olympics. This was a huge success as this got them talking about what body wash to buy. The ad itself shows that you will smell like a man, so what better body wash to buy.

The campaign was advertised on television during ideal times for couples to view. One of the shows that was included was American Idol.

@Aanton7 I totally agree. I think by using the same actor it will be more recognizable for the old spice brand. -Mallory Geniesse

If I worked on the current marketing team for this brand I would keep the same actor and branding style but incorporate another actor to compete with the original allowing old spice to keep what has already been successful but bring something new to the table. -Cody King

@Aanton7 I feel that if they brought in a new comedian that is well known it would bring more attention to the brand and bring it more customers

If I worked on the current marketing team I would keep the same director and producers but change up the product and maybe change up the character talking.

These commercials were appealing to their target audience no doubt, and pretty funny

If I were on the marketing team for this brand, I would bring back the same actor but with another actor representing their bad smelling competitors.

I agree that two actors including the original old spice actor would bring more attention to their product

If I were to bring this campaign back to the present day, I would bring in a similar actor and idea but different so people would know what you were referring too but "spice" it up a little. -Justin Stark

@Srosenb6 I agree and it's also interesting that this would be within the same realm that the apple ads were, with different actors representing different brands, but just with the Old spice twist
