Looking for Alaska
BY: John Green
There isn't one main protagonists, the book kinda talks for everyone but the main character would be Miles.
This is "Pudge" his real name is Miles Halter and he is a Junior in high school from Florida. He will be attending a new and very different school in Alabama called Culver Creek. He is a bit on the weird side and he memorizes many people's "Last words".
"I know so many last words but I will never know hers"
Amy Young is not intentionally trying to be the antagonist but her actions cause her to be the antagonist to every character in "Looking for Alaska". She is a very exotic, beautiful, adventurous, and unpredictable young lady. It was her soul and her outgoing and mysterious personality that made everyone at Culver Creek wonder.
"How will we ever get out of this Labyrinth of suffering?"
Here is another character Chip or the "Colonel". I had to include him because he is one of the main characters as well. He is the mastermind for Alaska's mischievous famous pranks and he is basically the middle man. He grew up to be poor but he is one faithful and reliable friend. He sure does not take things for granted.
"My question is: Why do good people get rotten lots in life?"
Quote: "We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations."
Theme: Pursuit of the Great Perhaps
Who would I recommend the book to? I would recommend this book to everyone. It's gives you a real vision of how teenagers go through life and what to expect. The happiness, depression, and thrill would be appealing to most teenagers and young adults. Everyone has or will go through some of these life experiences at one point in their lives.
