D Day 70 Years on

As the world commemorates the terrible human sacrifice that took place on the beaches of Normandie 70 years ago today, lets take time to think about the tragic loss of Old Alleyneians in all conflicts.

If you know anything about these names we would be very interested to hear their personal story.

This link takes you to the story of one local man, Frederick Hasshill, who tragically lost his life on 8th July 1944 aged just 24.

County Show Success

Following a good scrub, brush and oil, Sandy our Oxford Sandy and Black Gilt was finally ready for the county show. Tom Podmore had the tricky job of walking her around the show area using just a board and stick. Fortunately, Tom had trained her superbly and consequently she behaved impeccably. After some 10 minutes of anxious waiting and intense scrutiny by the judging panel she was finally awarded first prize. We received a certificate, rosette and a small amount of prize money but most importantly the knowledge that we have a prize winning breeding pig on the Thomas Alleyne's farm. Well done to everyone who helped out on the day.

Agriculture Project

A group of year 10 Environmental Land Based Science students are taking part in a media project starting on the 12th June for 5 weeks. They will be working with Uttoxeter library and the National Archive Services looking at agricultural practices through the decades from World War I to present day and how they have changed. This project will be filmed and placed on the National archives, this is a tremendous opportunity for these students and the school and we look forward to seeing the finished project.
