Mind the Innovation
Pécs, Hungary (2015)
Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness. Running from 2014 to 2020 with an €80 billion budget, the EU’s new programme for research and innovation is part of the drive to create new growth and jobs in Europe.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya (CCIPB) is active supporter and coordinator of the implementation of the regional economic development strategy, jointly with the university, the city and major companies.. Further objectives include the development of innovation potential and export readiness of SMEs, to develop their business opportunities through EU financed projects.
CCIPB, beside having an innovation department, is active partner of the Enterprise Europe Network: they are also responsible for innovation and technology transfer activities within the region. By undertaking tasks of preparing local innovation strategy and action plans for calls for proposals CCIPB has a working relationship with South Transdanubian Regional Development Agency.
CCIPB as the economic self government strives to identify and transfer new development and competitiveness potentials not only to the member companies but to the economy of the region as well. The Chamber has been supporting the Creative Industry Cluster since 2006 that is the largest competence centre of that industrial branch within the region.
During the European Capital of Culture project the Chamber collected a lot of experience in the field of creative industry and culture – not only as an active participant but co-owner of the project management company.
The Chamber is founding member of the so-called ÉKG program where creative industry enterprises, the South West Hungarian Chamber of Architects work together with us to generate development projects jointly.
CCIPB has been playing an active role in EU financed projects since the introduction of PHARE programs in Hungary. The Chamber is project partner of the CNCB cluster development project as well. More than fifteen EU projects have been successfully implemented in the past ten years. It is important to present other collaboration platform as well: active member of EUROCHAMBRES, founding member of the Danube-Drava-Sava Euroregion, founding and program development member of Danube Chambers of Commerce (DCCA), project developer of the Competitiveness Pole Program.
