Moment Poem

The beach

With its crashing waves

Its salty smell

Its seagulls greedy and loud

like a small child

Laying on my surfboard

Waiting for the perfect wave

I see it cresting

Many others around me notice it too

I turn my board around

I start paddling towards the white sand

The push of the wave starts

My feet push my body upright

the wave takes me all the way back to the beach

I lay there

With heat from the sun beating down on me

And I smile

Because in this moment I could lay on the warm sand forever

and never leave.
