THE POWER OF PHOTOGRAPHY
when photographs do more than document history
Photographers use their cameras as instruments of change. Their images are the proof that photography matters now more than ever. The power of photography is a very complex and important concept: a photo means different things to different people. In fact, as Jonathan Klein in the video below says, it's thanks to our view that photography has a potencial changing power in our world.
Photos are always used to preserv memories, document history, send a messages and learn. All this is possible because images speak the same language and they send the same message even if a picture speak thousend words. When we speak through images there are no barriers.
A picture has the power to move a mind and provoke us more than words. With a camera we can stop time, open a door into the past and allow a look into the future: keep our mistakes in our minds means save all the generations to come.
Another important point is that people firmly believe pictures so with them we can eliminate ignorance, as J.K says, but also alter reality and deceive people.
With a photo you have the power and it's up to you to decide how to use it.
